Services QaaS

Quantum as a Service (QaaS) is a cloud service model that provides remote, on‑demand access to quantum computing resources—such as real quantum processors, emulators, and development tools—over the internet. It is part of the broader quantum service engineering, i.e. the application of service‑oriented engineering principles, methods, and tools to the design, implementation, and deployment of quantum computing capabilities while hiding hardware and compilation layers. QaaS lets developers run quantum algorithms and build quantum‑enabled applications without owning or operating any quantum hardware themselves. This supports hybrid quantum‑classical applications, where classical code offloads specific optimization, simulation, or cryptographic tasks to quantum backends. Research proposes quantum service‑oriented architectures where quantum capabilities are encapsulated as microservices that can be independently deployed, scaled, and versioned, similar to classical microservice ecosystems.
