Photo­nics BW e.V.

Photo­nics BW e.V. is the non profit innova­tion network dedica­ted to promo­ting photo­nic and quantum techno­lo­gies in research, develo­p­ment, and appli­ca­tion, as well as in educa­tion, training, talent develo­p­ment, and public outreach across Baden-Württem­berg. The network currently brings together around 90 members from indus­try, small and medium enter­pri­ses, start-ups, research insti­tu­ti­ons, banks, and consul­ting organiza­ti­ons from Baden-Württem­berg and beyond.

Services

  • Cross cluster events with appli­ca­tion sectors relevant to quantum techno­lo­gies, inclu­ding mobility, biotech­no­logy and life scien­ces, environ­men­tal techno­lo­gies, security and defense, and automation
  • Networ­king initia­ti­ves such as the Quantum Techno­lo­gies Working Group, which serves as a conti­nuous exchange platform for experts in quantum hardware, enabling techno­lo­gies, and quantum techno­logy applications
  • Acqui­si­tion and distri­bu­tion of funding through our projects Photon­Q­Boost (€3.6 million in EU funding for SME support) and PQT Energi­zer (€220,000 from the Minis­try of Econo­mic Affairs, Labour and Tourism of Baden-Württem­berg for start-up initia­ti­ves in the fields of photo­nics and quantum technologies)

Activities

With the goal of bringing quantum techno­lo­gies into practi­cal appli­ca­tion, Photo­nics BW, together with QuantumBW, organi­zes cross cluster activi­ties in the fields of mobility, biotech­no­logy and life scien­ces, environ­men­tal techno­lo­gies, security and defense, automa­tion, and more. We welcome additio­nal ideas and topics and invite you to get in touch with us. Further­more, the Quantum Techno­lo­gies Working Group serves as a regular exchange platform for experts in quantum hardware, enabling techno­lo­gies, and quantum techno­logy applications.

Funded Project BooQ BW

On behalf of the Baden-Württem­berg Minis­try of Econo­mic Affairs, Labour and Tourism, Photo­nicsBW is imple­men­ting a new funding initia­tive. Through “BooQ BW”, the state’s quantum techno­logy ecosys­tem will be further streng­the­ned. Over the next three years, existing activi­ties in techno­logy trans­fer, innova­tion support, and networ­king will be comple­men­ted by start-up support as well as measu­res for skills develo­p­ment and talent reten­tion. The initia­tive aims to accele­rate the indus­trial adoption of quantum techno­lo­gies, foster the growth of the quantum start-up ecosys­tem, and streng­then photo­nics as a key enabling techno­logy for quantum technologies.

For small and medium-sized enter­pri­ses across Europe, Photon­Q­Boost provi­des funding of up to €50,000 for innova­tive projects in the fields of photo­nics and quantum techno­lo­gies. In addition to direct finan­cial support, the program offers techno­logy and intellec­tual property consul­ting, as well as delega­tion trips (Matching Missi­ons) to various indus­trial hubs across Europe.

Funded Project PhotonQBoost

More than €3.6 million will be inves­ted in direct support services for the 600 SMEs that are expec­ted to enter the Photon­Q­Boost service pipeline. A consor­tium of European clusters, consul­ting firms, and research insti­tu­ti­ons promo­tes cross border colla­bo­ra­tion, bridges knowledge gaps, and streng­thens the innova­tion ecosys­tem across the European Union. For members of Photo­nics BW, this creates oppor­tu­ni­ties to acquire new partners and custo­mers through the Photon­Q­Boost project and its networks. We invite you to contri­bute to the design of future funding calls and to share your needs and offerings related to sustaina­bi­lity, resili­ence, and competitiveness.
